Iraq Statistics Reference - January 2008

In the last six months, violence in Iraq has declined to some of the lowest levels since the conflict began. In his January 17, 2008 briefing, Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno reported that the total number of attacks in Iraq has been reduced by 60 percent. Moreover, "from January to December of 2007, ethnosectarian attacks and deaths decreased over 90 percent in the Baghdad security districts."
