Nataliya Bugayova

Director of Development


Nataliya Bugayova is the Development Director at the Institute for the Study of War. At ISW she is in charge of the Institute’s fundraising and strategic partnership efforts, as well as ISW events, including the launch of the Inaugural Security Conference.  

She joined ISW after having served as the chief executive officer of the Kyiv Post, Ukraine’s largest independent English-language publication, since August 2014. Previously she served as chief of staff to Pavlo Sheremeta, Ukraine's former economy minister, appointed after the EuroMaidan revolution in February of 2014. As part of her job at the Ministry, she oversaw Ukraine’s cooperation with the international financial institutions, specifically the implementation the reform program required for securing the financial support package from the World Bank. She has done short-term consulting projects with the World Bank in Washington D.C., as well as Boston Consulting Group's Kyiv office.  

She obtained a Master's degree in public policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. She was a student fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs during her second year at the Kennedy School.  She completed her undergraduate degree, majoring in East Asian studies, at Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University.  She is fluent in English, Russian and Ukrainian.
