Making News with Katie Couric and on Capitol Hill

On Monday, ISW President Kimberly Kagan had a rare opportunity to engage in a lengthy dialogue with CBS Anchor Katie Couric and Journalist George Parker. The interview covered many of the challenges the United States is facing in Afghanistan and President Obama’s impending decision on a way forward in the region.

On Tuesday, Dr. Kagan testified before the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations to complete the committee's three-part hearings on strategies for Afghanistan. Joining Dr. Kagan as expert witnesses were General Wesley Clark (Ret., U.S. Army), Dr. Andrew Krepinevich (CSBA) and Dr. Gilles Dorronsoro (Carnegie Endowment).

Finally, ISW has released the updated November order of battle (ORBAT) for Afghanistan. This reference tool by Wes Morgan is a detailed disposition of the ground forces under U.S. and NATO commands. It is always one of our most popular products and we hope you find it immensely helpful again.

Many thanks,

Megan Ortagus
Communications Director, ISW
