Ramzy Mardini

Ramzy Mardini is a Research Analyst at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), where he focuses on Iraqi politics and security. He also serves as an Adjunct Fellow at the Iraq Institute for Strategic Studies. Before joining ISW, Mr. Mardini previously worked at the Office of the Vice President, assisting the national security staff on Iraq and Middle East affairs. From 2007-2010, Mr. Mardini served as a Middle East Analyst at the Jamestown Foundation and the editor of two books on the region, Volatile Landscape: Iraq and its Insurgent Movements, and The Battle for Yemen: Al-Qaeda and the Struggle for Stability. In 2006, he joined the State Department as an Iraq Desk Officer for Political Affairs, and later served as a Research Associate on Iran at the Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan – Amman. Mr. Mardini holds a B.A. in political science from Ohio State University, and a M.A. in international relations from the University of Chicago.
