Dressler and Forsberg presented their findings regarding the outcomes of NATO military campaigns in Helmand and Kandahar provinces throughout 2010. This conference call also unveiled ISW’s new two-part series on Southern Afghanistan: Counterinsurgency in Kandahar – Evaluating the 2010 Hamkari Campaign by Carl Forsberg and Counterinsurgency in Helmand – Progress and Remaining Challenges by Jeffrey Dressler. Both scholars were invited to Afghanistan in July 2010 to conduct research for General David Petraeus following his assumption of command.
