"Today is the eighth anniversary of the beginning of the war in Afghanistan and President Obama continues to mull over whether to send up to 40,000 more troops into that country. Tuesday he met with congressional leaders to inform his decision. This happened just two days after Defense Secretary Robert Gates implicitly rebuked his top Afghanistan commander, General Stanley McChrystal, for going public with his lobbying for more troops.
