In the last six months, violence in Iraq has declined to some of the lowest levels since the conflict began. "The number of attacks against citizens in Baghdad has dropped by almost 80 percent since November of 2006. Murders in the province have decreased by 90 percent during that same time frame. The number of vehicle-borne IED incidents has also declined by about 70 percent...and we're finding more of them before they detonate. The number of roadside bombs has also decreased significantly, and we're finding more and more of them before they detonate," Major General Joseph Fil, the commander of MND-Baghdad, reported in a press conference on December 17, 2007.  This document contains graphs and charts released by MNF-I and MNC-I regarding violence in Iraq.
