Operation Sabre Pursuit

Operation Sabre Pursuit began July 25, South of Balad Ruz in eastern Diyala Province.  It was conducted in tandem with the 5th Iraqi Army Division and the Balad Ruz police force.  The operation was intended to push insurgents away from the urban centers of Diyala, and to further limit their ability to conduct attacks.  Coalition forces were involved in clearing villages, finding caches, defusing improvised explosive devices.  The operation also netted intelligence on insurgents in the province.
