J. Roby Penn IV is the Major Gifts Officer at The Institute for the Study of War. He has served in positions that involved executive leadership, marketing, strategic fundraising, and donor development in both the private and public sectors - from the petroleum industry, to national political campaigns, to arts institutions.
A Fort Worth, Texas, native, he is an alumnus of Culver Military Academy where he was Cadet Captain and Black Horse Troop Commander. He received a B.A. in History from Texas Christian University. His post-graduate studies include attending Georgetown University (MLA), as well as pursuing a Master of Divinity (M.DIV.) at Palm Beach Atlantic University. He received a Certificate from the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies at American University.
Mr. Penn serves or has served as a board or committee member of numerous organizations including the American Ballet Theater, American Heart Association, Achilles International - Freedom Team for Wounded Veterans, HOPE For Depression, The Chinati Foundation, Corcoran Museum, Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Palm Beach Symphony, and The President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
