Lieutenant General James M. General Dubik
The seminar has been held annually since 1996 in support of research and discourse on military science to improve mutual understanding among Indo-Asian-Pacific countries.
Previous keynote speakers included William J. Perry, former U.S. Secretary of Defense and Admirals (Retired) Thomas B. Fargo and Timothy J. Keating , former Commanders of US Pacific Command.
This year’s seminar focused on ensuring essential military capabilities and functions in response to the changing mission of the military and its impact on military education.

Lieutenant General Dubik also led seminars at Japan’s National Institute of Defense Studies in Tokyo. He discussed the importance of landpower in the current strategic environment drawing from lessons learned from 12 years at war.

This is a welcome return to the Pacific for General Dubik. He has extensive experience in the region, having commanded the 25th Infantry Division and the U.S. Army 1st Corps.

The Institute for the Study of War recognizes Asia’s strategic importance within U.S. policy. Dr. Kimberly Kagan, President and Founder of the Institute for the Study of War, stated, "Lt. Gen. Dubik's career and expertise link America's recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan to its longstanding commitment to Japan and the Pacific. ISW is proud to place expertise and analytic focus to the Pacific.”
